It is my pleasure to welcome a new seminarian, Zane Pekron, who has been assigned to Nativity for his “Teaching Parish” apostolate for his four years of formation at the St. Paul Seminary. Deacon Michael McClellan is completing his fourth year of the program and will remain with us through his ordination to priesthood, God willing, in May of 2016.
Zane will be joining us for the masses this weekend, so I encourage Nativity parishioners to join me in welcoming him and introduce themselves this weekend or whenever they are able. In the meantime, I asked Zane to offer a few words about himself by way of introduction:
My name is Zane Pekron and I am in Theology I at Saint Paul Seminary in St. Paul. I am studying for the Diocese of Rapid City, South Dakota. I grew up on a family cattle ranch west of Pierre, SD. I am the oldest of three kids and I have two younger sisters whose names are Allison and Grace. I grew up riding horses and working with cattle, and I still greatly enjoy helping out on my family’s ranch whenever I am home.
I also greatly enjoy playing sports of all kinds and I am always excited to learn to play new sports. I ran cross country for five years and track for six in middle school and high school. I ran at the state cross country meet five years in a row and the state track meet one year.
I graduated high school from Philip High School in Philip, SD in the spring of 2011. After graduation I went to minor seminary at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, MN and I received my bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from St. Mary’s University after four years there.
Now I am seeking to draw closer to the Lord through prayer and my studies in order to allow Him to form me to hopefully be His priest one day.
