Thank you, Nativity!
Thanks to your generosity, the Nativity Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society has continued to serve the poor in the first half of 2022 — helping 40 families with 78 members, including 32 children.
These brothers and sisters had a wide range of needs, from rent help to food assistance, including a coffee maker, beds and other furniture, pots and pans, everyday clothing, and a specialized pair of work boots for a man who’d had part of his foot amputated.
Our total disbursements through the end of May were more than $13,000 — most significantly over $9,000 in rent assistance, $1,300 for furniture, and $2,000 for clothing.
Requests for assistance are running at about double the 2021 pace, and we expect that the demand will continue to grow in the months ahead as COVID-related government programs shut down.
Our Nativity conference continues to meet twice a month, currently making the transition from Zoom to in-person meetings.
New members are welcome. Call (651) 334-2935 for more information.
And coming up: Our autumn clothing and household goods collection is October 8. Stay tuned for details.
