As many of you know, our beloved Facilities Director Bill Beltz will be retiring on June 30. Bill is one of the pillars of our Nativity community and has well earned his retirement several times over. These past couple of years, he has been sharing his knowledge of the current workings as well as the history of Nativity with Steve Boatman, who will be taking over as Facilities Director, effective July 1. We wish to congratulate Bill on his retirement and Steve on his promotion!
We asked Steve to introduce himself a bit better to the people of Nativity:
How did you end up here at Nativity? After a variety of jobs in my early adulthood, I started working for Holy Trinity in South St. Paul in 2004 as a custodian. I decided that working to support an organization that was doing God’s work was what I was being called to do with my life. In 2011, there was a possibility that Holy Trinity School was going to be closed and there was a full-time job available here at Nativity. Through the urging of Sandy Kane, Nativity’s Assistant Principal whom I knew from Holy Trinity, I applied for and got the Church custodian job.
What excites you about taking over as Director of Facilities? The Facility Director position offers a whole lot of day to day challenges and a higher level look at how a parish functions. I’m excited to continue the great work that has kept Nativity functioning as one of the best parishes and schools in the Archdiocese.
What do you like about Nativity? Definitely the people. Nativity has a highly dedicated staff and enthusiastic, impassioned parishioners. I am hoping to get to know and serve all of you for many years to come.
