Nativity Alumna to Serve with FOCUS

Did you know: of those who leave the Catholic Church, nearly 80% will do so by the time they turn 23 years old?

I, like many of my peers, faced the reality of getting to choose to pursue my faith for the first time when I started my freshman year at the University of Iowa.

During my time at Nativity (‘13) and Cretin-Derham Hall (‘17), the Catholic faith was present throughout my entire day. When I got to college, I struggled to allow the Lord into my life and honestly had no idea what that looked like 235 miles away from home.

It wasn’t until my sophomore year when FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, came to campus at Iowa — and a missionary taught me how to pursue a personal relationship with the Lord — that my life was transformed.

FOCUS sends out recent college graduates to be the hands and feet of the Church, to meet students where they are, and walk with them in their journey of faith. I was inspired by missionaries to boldly live my faith and have heard the Lord inviting me to bring him to more students as a missionary myself.

In order to reach the students God is calling me to serve, I ask you to consider joining me in this ministry. St. Thérèse once said, “Some give by going to the missions. Some go by giving to the missions. Without both, there is no mission.”

First and foremost, I ask for your prayers, as this mission would not be possible without them. Secondly, as a missionary, I am responsible for fundraising 100% of my mission budget with the help individuals like you. Without your partnership, I cannot fulfill the work that God has called me to.
