Hello to my new brothers and sisters at Nativity! My name is
Fr. Nick Hagen and I am blessed and excited to be serving with Fr. Hipwell as your new parochial vicar.
I grew up in Chanhassen, MN as the eldest of five. After good experiences both attending Catholic school and being homeschooled, I joined the St. John Vianney college seminary for four great years. Several powerful experiences of God’s forgiveness after the sacrament of Confession and Eucharistic Adoration had originally drawn me to the seminary, and through my time in St. Paul, He kept fascinating me with the possibility of radically giving away my life to Him and others in a priestly way.
Since graduating from college seminary in 2013, I have been studying theology in Rome, and was ordained a priest on May 27, 2017. For me, Rome has been a classroom of the early Christians, both through studying the church fathers and saints, but especially through discovering that the same Spirit who filled them with zeal, charity, courage, and exuberant gratitude to God is still alive and active in every corner of the world. The best part is that this has made me love and appreciate even more the authentic, familial, and fervent faith that fills the neighborhoods of St. Paul.
I cannot wait to meet you all and keep discovering God’s unquenchable pursuit of each of us. God bless you!
Fr. Nick Hagen
