Dear parishioners and friends of Nativity of Our Lord,
Archbishop Hebda has assigned me as parochial vicar to
St. Michael’s and
St. Mary’s in Stillwater, effective July 1.
It is with mixed emotions that I tell you this, because while I am looking forward to my new assignment in Stillwater, I am certainly going miss Nativity. This has been a great first assignment, and I feel especially blessed to have received a third year here and to get to work with so many wonderful people, to have Fr. Patrick as a mentor, boss, and friend, and to get to be with you all. You have helped me grow so much, both as a priest and as a person, and I can only hope that I have helped you in a similar way.
There will a
Donut Sunday on June 10 that will serve as my going away party, we still have a month together, and I hope to return from time to time—I certainly intend to do my utmost to retain the Kelly Cup from the cribbage tournament—so while this is a goodbye, it most certainly is not a farewell.
Thank you!
—Fr. John Powers, Parochial Vicar
