As many of you know, our beloved Facilities Director Bill Beltz will be retiring on June 30. Bill is one of the pillars of our Nativity community and has well earned his retirement several times over. These past couple of years, he has been sharing his knowledge of the current workings as well as the history of Nativity with Steve Boatman, who will be taking over as Facilities Director, effective July 1. We wish to congratulate Bill on his retirement and Steve on his promotion!
We asked Bill to reflect on his time here at Nativity:
What was your first memory of Nativity? I went to school at Nativity. Thirteen years after graduating I interviewed for my position. I met with Monsignor Steiner, Father Lannan, and Jim Griesgraper the Principal. My first day was July 1, 1978. As I walked through the school, memories came flooding back. A lot looked the same. It was as if I never left. I looked at the teachers’ names on the classroom doors and some were the same teachers that taught me.
What is your favorite memory of Nativity? I have a lot of great memories of Nativity. The best has to be meeting Kathy, my wife.
What will you miss the most about working here? One of the things I will miss about leaving Nativity has to be the people from the parish. Because of my position I was able to be involved with so many people and organizations each year. For me, Nativity is a very special place. I could not have asked for a better place to work. Thank you to everyone for giving me memories I will never forget.
