County Fair Reflections and Thanks

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, Grace and peace be with you all.

Last weekend, I had the privilege of answering telephones along with Fr. Nick at the first-ever Nativity County Fair Virtual Event and Live Auction. What a joy it was to hear your voices on the other line and receive your generosity firsthand, all the while I was also observing the donations come in via our virtual live auction.

While I would much rather preferred to have been enjoying dinner in a Steiner Hall packed full of parishioners (dressed to the nines!) as usual, and enjoying fair food and games along with all of you, young and old, this year’s event offered me a unique and blessed perspective of this wonderful parish and our incredible families.

In an unprecedented County Fair year amidst a great deal of uncertainty, our community rose up to meet the challenge — and then some.

I owe a great debt of gratitude to our outstanding volunteers, beginning with the chairs of the steering committee: Casey and Tom Stephens and Andy and Jamie Omann; the many others listed below; and to all of you who gave of your time, talent, and treasure to our 2020 Nativity County Fair.

Here’s to hoping that we can all gather next year in full carnival array!
