This is Your Brain on Birth Control: How the Pill Changes Everything, by Sarah E. Hill, PhD will be our next book for discussion.
“This paradigm-shattering book provides an even-handed, science-based understanding of who women are, both on and off the pill,” Sarah’s website shares. “It will change the way that women think about their hormones and how they view themselves.”
We will also study the Papal Encyclical Humanae Vitae and the Catechism’s writings on birth control to round out our discussion with our Catholic teaching on this important topic.
These writings will provide a great backdrop to discuss the pill’s physical, psychological, and spiritual effects on women, men, and society.
We will meet to discuss the book on Friday, August 9 at 11am over brunch in Minneapolis and also Tuesday, August 27 from 6-8:30pm in Steiner Hall with a potluck dinner.
