As I detailed in November, water intrusions in our beautiful church’s building structure have caused spalling of the stone and extensive plaster damage.
Thanks to our newly warmer weather, we are now ready to begin tuckpointing mortar joints and otherwise repairing the failing areas, to be completed later in the year.
Because of anticipated construction noise, the 8:15am daily Mass will be celebrated downstairs to Steiner Hall. For these Masses, please fill in the middle seating section first, as the outer sections will be reserved for our school students.
We will also move the 2pm Stations of the Cross for the school and seniors this Friday, March 20 to Steiner Hall. If all goes well, most if not all of our other liturgies will remain unaffected.
We will do our best to keep you all abreast of any new necessary accommodations.
We thank you in advance for your understanding, flexibility, and patience as we navigate this necessary and important undertaking. Please keep an eye out for signage directing us to avoid sidewalks and entrances as needed.
And please excuse the noise — and mess! — that inevitably comes with projects such as these. This can be a good opportunity for us to bear some inconveniences gracefully in the spirit of Lenten penance.
Finally, you may recall the cost of this external tuckpointing repair project totals $696,697 and exceeds the scope of the annual budget.
If you would like to help underwrite the cost of this project, contact the parish office at info@nativity-mn.org or (651) 696-5401 or donate online here.
