May the grace and peace of God our Father be with you all.
November 7-8 is Stewardship Sunday, our annual opportunity to reflect on the abundant gifts that God has given us, acknowledging that all good things come from our Provident Father, and remembering that the gifts that we have been given were meant to be shared.
As you well know, this has been an extraordinary year marked with the global COVID-19 pandemic and much economic uncertainty in our midst. It’s ever important, and perhaps now more than ever, to commend ourselves to the loving Providence of our Father in heaven, and hold fast to the words of St. John in our 2nd Reading, “See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God” (1 John 3:1).
Drawing on the inspiration and ancient tradition of Our Lady, “Salus Populi Romani” — Help of the
Roman People (pictured at right) — and Queen of All Saints, we have prayed for her help and protection and intercession since the onset of the pandemic in March.
And we call out for her help again in this time of Stewardship, that we may continue to have our needs provided for — our health of mind, body, and spirit, and our economic and volunteer needs as well.
“Protectress of the Roman people,” you know our needs, and we know that you will provide, so that, as at Cana in Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us.
I invite you to take some time this to pray and reflect and ask Jesus, through the intercession of his mother, what he wishes to tell you, in preparation for Stewardship Sunday.
And may God bless you.
