Mary Caitlin McConville is an Honors and AP student at Cretin-Derham Hall, achieving the President’s list all four years. She is the Managing Editor of the Chronicle, the school newspaper, and participates in theater, the Political Affairs Club, International Business Alliance, Student Council, book club, CHOICE, and Girl Scouts. Mary Caitlin received the Derham Hall Carondolet Award. She is captain of the swim team, has participated in Irish Dance for twelve years and completed the Twin Cities Marathon in 2014. Mary Caitlin loves yoga, running, hiking, traveling, reading, and rollerblading. She has worked as a full-time summer nanny, HGRA soccer coach, and babysitter. Mary Caitlin volunteers as an altar server, Nativity Swim Team coach, Dementia Champion Trainer, Assistant Daisy Scout Leader, and Nativity Tutor Program Coordinator. She also volunteers through organizations including Taking Steps Together at HCMC, Highland Friendship Club, the Dorothy Day Shelter, and as a Volunteer Aide at Banaadir Academy.
Mary Caitlin is a young woman with a very full life, saying “Yes” to challenges every day, opportunity, risk, service, faith, kindness, to being present to the many people in her life. She is a very good friend. Mary Caitlin continually says “Yes” to God and her community at Nativity Parish.

Each year the NCCW recognizes an outstanding young woman with the Spirit of Mary Award. The award winner must have demonstrated acts of faith, humility, generosity, and kindness through her school, parish, and community involvement. Female parishioners who are currently seniors in high school may apply or may be nominated. The award is a cash prize of $500, with $100 designated to the winner’s charity of choice.
