As weekend attendance grows, we are happy to announce that beginning next Saturday, September 26 we will be opening up the Saturday 5pm vigil Mass to the public.
This Mass will continue to be live-streamed as well.
It is our hope that we can add more Masses in the future as the availability of volunteers allow.
Volunteers Needed
We need volunteer ushers, lectors, and Eucharistic Ministers for the soon-to-be public Saturday 5pm Mass. If you are low-risk for the coronavirus (as defined by current Archdiocesan and CDC/MDH guidelines) and can help, please contact the parish office for more information.
We are also looking for a few more volunteers to help at our other Masses throughout the week and weekend, including both those who can commit to a regular schedule and those who can be available as a substitute.
Communion During Mass
The Archdiocese has now granted permission to return to the distribution of Holy Communion to its regular time during the Mass, and we’ll resume Communion during Mass beginning with Lord’s Day Masses next weekend, September 26-27.
Please follow the ushers’ guidance when processing to Communion to ensure the health and safety of each of us. The Communion procession will continue via the side aisles, with communicants returning to pews via the center aisle, careful to maintain six feet from other households as you do so.
At the conclusion of Mass, the ushers will dismiss you again, row by row, to exit as you do now through the southeast and southwest doors (barring construction detours). While we know many of us prefer to stay in the church to pray after Mass, we respectfully ask that everyone leave the church at that time so that we can begin our sanitation duties.
If Adoration is available after Mass (weekdays or weekend evenings), you are welcome to return to the church after the sanitizing is complete, usually about 15-30 minutes after Mass is finished.
We will implement this Communion change as a trial over four weeks. It is critical that we can do this in a safe and controlled manner and with everyone’s support and cooperation. If, after the four week trial, we feel comfortable with this change, it will continue.
Music Expanded at Sunday Liturgies; Choir Returning
Finally, we are happy to announce that the Nativity Choir has begun preparations to resume singing at parish Masses in the near future.
We have also incorporated music into the 8:15am Sunday Mass, in addition to the 11am Mass.
Congregational singing will continue to be suspended in the interest of health and safety.
