As I was taking in another great year of the Nativity County Fair this past Friday night, I was pleased to be approached by two surprise visitors: Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Fr. John Ubel (Nativity’s own and rector of the Cathedral)! We strolled the fair grounds for over an hour and even visited the Fair’s finance room (cover photo and below). The Archbishop and Fr. Ubel were overwhelmed by the camaraderie, dedication, and generosity of this community in annually creating a remarkable and truly one-of-a-kind community gathering. I am profoundly grateful to the County Fair Chairs, Molly & Judd Fenlon and Courtney & Ryan Smith, the County Fair Steering Committee, the County Fair volunteers, and you—all our parishioners and friends-—who attend and support our Fair.
While a complete NCF report will be published soon, I want to particularly thank the generosity of the County Fair dinner attendees in responding to the annual Fund A Need. A crowd of 375 parishioners opened their hearts to offer record-breaking contributions of $112,000. Fund A Need this year will support scholarships and the school’s Creative Learning Lab STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) Initiative. What an incredible night and weekend. All in all, Nativity County Fair 42 hit a home run—way out of the park! Thanks to so many of you for being so very present this weekend and supporting the Fair. It was a huge success!
