Dear Nativity Community Members,
Over the past several weeks we have watched a number of major events be canceled for this summer and fall due to the ongoing and anticipated impact of the Coronavirus.
Major sporting events, and even the State Fair, have been canceled for 2020. Due to the unpredictability of this virus, Nativity has made the incredibly difficult decision to replace the traditional Nativity County Fair with a new virtual event for 2020.
The magnitude of our traditional County Fair weekend has grown exponentially over the years, and we do not believe we can meet all of the current or anticipated restrictions and guidelines that such a public event would demand. We know this decision is very disappointing news for everyone, and we wish it wasn’t necessary.
However, we are excited to announce that the fair leadership has redirected its focus and efforts toward the creation of a dynamic, new virtual event which will be held in the fall.
The County Fair is a gift to our community as a source of joyful celebration and as a critical fundraiser. We are committed to finding new ways to achieve those same goals in new and exciting ways in the months ahead.
We are blessed to have a creative, talented, and committed team ready to move forward with new ideas that will mark the 2020 virtual event as one to remember! We’d like to thank them for rising to the challenge!
In the months ahead we will continue to update you on this new and modified virtual event. All will be invited to participate in the joy, laughter, and generosity which will surely mark the “2020 Fair”. We hope you’ll join us!
Let us all pray that this pandemic will end, and we can gather together again and celebrate the 2021 County Fair!
Sincerely,
Fr. Patrick Hipwell
